How to get from Ksamil to Corfu? There is no direct boat from Ksamil to Corfu Island. The boat to Corfu departs from Saranda. So you must take a bus (1.30 EUR) or taxi (13-23 EUR) from Ksamil to Saranda, it takes 20 min. Then a ferry boat from Saranda to Corfu (19-25 EUR), it takes 30-65 min.

In this blog post, I will detail how you can travel from Ksamil to Corfu. I will detail how you can take a bus or taxi from Ksamil to Saranda. And then how to get on the ferry from Saranda to Corfu. I will share many details, like ticket prices, where to buy the tickets, travel duration, timetables, getting to Corfu airport, time differences etcetera.

How to get from Ksamil to Corfu by boat?

You cannot get a direct boat from Ksamil to Corfu. Ferry boats depart from Saranda (not Ksamil). So, you must take a bus or taxi from Ksamil to Saranda. And then a ferry from Saranda to Corfu. 

  • Step 1: Bus / Taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda
  • Step 2: Ferry boat from Saranda to Corfu

So if you want to travel from Ksamil to Corfu, you must take 2 x steps. First, you take either a bus or taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda. And then, you take a ferry boat from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu. 

Below, I will describe what you can expect to pay for a taxi from Ksamil to Saranda, how to get on the bus from Ksamil to Saranda and where to buy your ferry ticket from Saranda to Corfu. 

Step 1: Bus / Taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda

You must first take a bus or taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda. Because the ferry boats to Corfu depart from the Port of Saranda. 

Taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda

You can take a taxi from Ksamil to Saranda for around 13 euros for a one-way ride. I have reached out to some of the taxi drivers in Saranda and requested their taxi rates from Ksamil to Saranda below.

Ksamil to Saranda taxi prices:

  • Taxi Saranda Transfers, Private Tours & Shore Excursions charges 1500 Leke (13 euros) for a taxi from Ksamil to Saranda.
  • Taxi Blerim charges 1500 Leke (13 euros) for a taxi from Ksamil to Saranda.
  • Taxi Saranda charges 1500 Leke (13 euros) for a taxi from Ksamil to Saranda.
  • Taxi in Saranda charges 1200 Leke (10.50 euros) for a taxi from Ksamil to Saranda.
  • Taxi Saranda 251 charges 1700 Leke (15 euros) for a taxi from Ksamil to Saranda. 

However, I have received some messages from tourists who were charged 2500 Leke (23 euros) for a taxi from Ksamil to Saranda. Of course, in the high season months, like July and August, some taxi drivers will try to get more money for a short ride from Ksamil to Saranda as it is a popular tourist destination.

Bus from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda

You can also take a short bus ride from Ksamil to Saranda. A bus ticket from Ksamil to Saranda costs 150 Leke (1.30 euros) per person. 

Basically, there is a bus from Butrint via Ksamil to Saranda. Buses depart from Butrint between 7:00 AM and 20:00 PM, approximately 10 minutes later the bus will make stops in Ksamil and drive onwards to Saranda. 

The bus departs from Butrint at 7:00 AM, 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 13:30 PM, 14:30 PM, 15:30 PM, 16:00 PM, 16:30 PM, 17:00 PM, 17:30 PM, 18:00 PM, 18:30 PM, 19:00 PM, 19:30 PM and 20:00 PM. Approximately 10 minutes after the bus departs from Butrint, the bus will make stops in Ksamil. 

This bus from Butrint via Ksamil to Saranda terminates at the Port of Saranda. It is very convenient because you can then walk from the bus stop to the ferry terminal. And board the ferry from Saranda to Corfu. 

A bus ticket from Ksamil to Saranda costs 150 LEK (1.30 EUR) per person. You are expected to pay for your bus ticket in cash onboard the bus. An employee from the bus company will pass through the bus to collect the cash payment. So it is best to bring the correct amount of cash with you so that you can pay easily during the bus ride. You cannot book your bus ticket in advance or pay online. You can only pay in cash once you are onboard the bus.

To get on the bus from Ksamil to Saranda, you can go to one of the bus stops in Ksamil. Below, I have links to Google Maps where you can see the bus stop locations in Ksamil.

Step 2: Ferry boat from Saranda to Corfu

After you have taken a taxi or bus from Ksamil to Saranda, you can get on the ferry boat from Saranda to Corfu.

Ticket price of the ferry from Saranda to Corfu

A ferry ticket from Saranda to Corfu costs between 19-25 euros depending on the season. 

  • If you are travelling between mid-June and mid-September, this is the high season in Albania. In these months a ferry ticket costs between 22-25 euros per person. 
  • If you are travelling between mid-September and mid-June (in the Fall, Winter or Spring), this is the low season. In these months a ferry ticket from Saranda to Corfu costs 19 euros per person

Duration of the ferry from Saranda to Corfu.

The ferry journey from Saranda to Corfu takes either 30 minutes or 65 minutes depending on the type of boat you book.

  • If you book a Flying Dolphin or Highspeed Hydrofoil boat, the journey from Saranda to Corfu takes only 30 minutes
  • However, if you book the Ferry Boat or Passenger Ship, then the boat journey from Saranda to Corfu takes 65 minutes

This is simply due to the speed of the boat you book. A highspeed hydrofoil goes much faster, but cars cannot board this boat. If you travel by car, then you must book the ferry boat, where there is space to bring your car onboard.

Ferry timetables from Saranda to Corfu

The number of ferry boats in operation between Saranda and Corfu varies a lot based on the season. 

If you are travelling in January and April, there may be as little as 2 ferry boat departures per day. Usually, the only options would be in the morning, departing at 10:15 AM or 10:30 AM. 

  • Finikas Lines – From 1 January until 4 April – 1 x Ferry departure at 10:30 AM from the Port of Saranda
  • Ionian Seaways – From 1 January until 6 April – 1 x Ferry departure at 10:15 AM from the Port of Saranda

If you want to take the ferry from Saranda to Corfu in the spring, there are between 5-6 ferry departures per day.

  • Finikas Lines – From 5 April until 15 May – 3 x Ferry departures at 9:40 AM, 13:00 PM and 16:30 PM from the Port of Saranda
  • Ionian Seaways – From 13 April until 1 May – 3 x Ferry departures at 10:15 AM, 13:00 PM and 16:00 PM from the Port of Saranda

However, in the summer months, like June, July, August and September, there are 12-15 ferry departures per day. So really you would be able to choose what time you prefer to travel.

  • Finikas Lines – From 21 until 30 September – 9 x Ferry departures at 6:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:45 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 AM, 13:30 PM, 15:45 PM, 18:30 PM and 20:00 PM.
  • Ionian Seaways – From 21 July until 10 September – 6 x Ferry departures at 6:00 AM, 8:45 AM, 10:15 AM, 13:00 PM, 16:00 PM and 18:15 PM.

IMPORTANT! Always bear in mind that there is a 1-hour time difference between Saranda and Corfu. Basically, Corfu Island is 1 hour ahead of Saranda. So if it is 16:00 PM in Saranda, it is 17:00 PM in Corfu. Really important to keep this in mind if you are planning to take a flight from Corfu airport. 

Booking a ferry from Saranda to Corfu

The ferries from Saranda to Corfu are operated by 2 x ferry companies. These are Ionian Seaways and Finikas Lines. Their offering is very similar. 

You can book your ferry ticket online on the website of Ionian Seaways or the website of Finikas Lines. However, it is also possible to buy a ferry ticket in person at their ticket offices in the Port of Saranda or the Port of Corfu upon departure. 

Can you get a boat from Ksamil to Corfu?

You cannot get a boat from Ksamil to Corfu. The boats to Corfu depart from the Port of Saranda. So you must take a taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda, where you can then board the boat to Corfu. 

  • Step 1: Take a bus or taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda
    • A taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda costs 13-23 euros. 
    • A bus ticket costs 150 Leke (1.30 euros) per person. 
    • Buses drive from Butrint via Ksamil to the Port of Saranda. The bus departs from Butrint at 7:00 AM, 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 13:30 PM, 14:30 PM, 15:30 PM, 16:00 PM, 16:30 PM, 17:00 PM, 17:30 PM, 18:00 PM, 18:30 PM, 19:00 PM, 19:30 PM and 20:00 PM. Approximately 10 minutes after the bus departs from Butrint, the bus will make stops in Ksamil.

  • Step 2: Take a ferry from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu
    • A ferry ticket costs between 19-25 euros per person.
    • With a High-Speed hydrofoil boat called a “Flying Dolphin” it takes 30 minutes to get from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu.
    • With a Car Ferry or Passenger ship it takes 65 minutes to get from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu. 
    • You can book ferry tickets online on the website of Ionian Seaways or the website of Finikas Lines. You can also buy tickets in person at the ticket offices at the Port of Saranda.

How long is the ferry from Ksamil to Corfu?

There is no direct ferry from Ksamil to Corfu. So you can take a ferry from Saranda to Corfu instead. The ferry from Saranda to Corfu takes between 30-65 minutes depending on the type of boat you book. With a high-speed hydrofoil “Flying Dolphin” boat it takes only 30 minutes to get from Saranda to Corfu. With a passenger ship/car ferry, it takes 65 minutes to get from Saranda to Corfu. 

Also, bear in mind that it will take you approximately 20 minutes to get from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda by taxi or bus. Before you can board the ferry from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu.

Ksamil to Corfu ferry price

There is no direct ferry from Ksamil to Corfu. So you must take a ferry from Saranda to Corfu. 

  • Step 1: Take a taxi (13-23 Euros) or a bus (1.30 euros per person) from Ksamil to Saranda.
  • Step 2: Take a ferry from Saranda to Corfu (19 euros in low-season, 25 euros in high-season).

How to get from Saranda to Corfu?

You can get from Saranda to Corfu by ferry. Ferries depart from the Port of Saranda and will drop you off at the Port of Corfu. A ferry ticket costs 19-25 euros per person. You can buy your ticket online or in person from Ionian Seaways or Finikas Lines. High-speed hydrofoil boats take 30 minutes and passenger ferry ships take 65 minutes to get you from Saranda to Corfu.

How to get from Ksamil to Corfu by car?

To get from Ksamil to Corfu by car, you must first drive from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda and then take a car ferry from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu. 

Important things to bear in mind:

  • Not all ferries from Saranda to Corfu are suitable to transport cars. 
  • Ionian Seaways and Finikas Lines operate passenger ships and car ferries. Only the car ferries are suitable for transporting a car from Saranda to Corfu. 
  • The car ferries from Saranda to Corfu take longer. The car ferry takes 65 minutes to complete the journey. Whereas high-speed hydrofoils only take 30 minutes, but these faster boats are not suitable for cars.
  • You must know the registration number of the car before you book, so that is important to know if you are renting a car.
  • If the car you are bringing onboard is a rental car, you need permission from the car rental company to take the rental car abroad to Greece. And you also need additional insurance to cover your car for Greece.

How to get from Ksamil to Corfu Airport?

You can get from Ksamil to Corfu Airport in 3 x steps. First, take a bus or taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda. Then, take a ferry from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu. And finally, take a bus or taxi from the Port of Corfu to Corfu Airport. 

Step 1: Take a bus or taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda.

You can book a taxi from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda for 13-23 euros depending on the taxi driver. Alternatively, you can take a short bus ride from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda. Buses depart every 30-60 minutes between 7 AM and 20 PM from Butrint via Ksamil to the Port of Saranda. A bus ticket from Ksamil to the Port of Saranda costs only 1.30 euros per person.

Step 2: Take a ferry from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu

You can book a ferry boat ticket from the Port of Saranda to the Port of Corfu online or buy a ticket in person. Ferry tickets cost between 19-25 euros per person depending on in which season you are travelling. The ferry boat operators are Ionian Seaways and Finikas Lines.

Step 3: Take a taxi or bus from the Port of Corfu to Corfu Airport

From the Port of Corfu, you can take bus number 15 which brings you from the Port of Corfu to Corfu Airport. 

IMPORTANT! Always bear in mind that there is a 1-hour time difference between Saranda and Corfu. Basically, Corfu Island is 1 hour ahead of Saranda. So if it is 16:00 PM in Saranda, it is 17:00 PM in Corfu. Really important to keep this in mind if you are planning to take a flight from Corfu airport.
