In your country, you may be used to booking bus tickets online, paying online for your bus ticket and printing your bus ticket or having a mobile bus ticket. These are not common practices in Albania. In Albania, you are expected to pay cash for your bus ticket with the bus driver. That being said, it is important to consider your location in Durres. Durres is a very long city spread alongside the coastline. Therefore, the city centre of Durres and the Port of Durres are much closer to Tirana Airport. Whereas the beaches of Durres are located further to the South and are a bit further from Tirana airport. It is only fair for a taxi driver to ask your exact location in Durres and price the taxi ride accordingly.

In essence, if you are on Durres Beach or Golem Beach, your taxi might be a bit more expensive.

The highways and national roads connecting Tirana airport, Tirana, Durres, Shkoder, Berat, Vlore, Gjirokaster and Saranda are of good quality. But not all roads in Albania are asphalted, this is particularly important to check if you plan driving to a remote or off-the-beaten-path destination. You cannot take a train from Durres to Tirana airport. Because Tirana airport is not connected to any railways. And Tirana airport does not have a train station. So it is not possible to travel to Tirana airport by train at all. 

There are plans to create a railway between Tirana airport and Tirana/Durres. In the past, there used to be a railway that connected Tirana city and Durres city. However, this railway is not in use at the moment. So the plan is to refurbish the railway between Tirana city and Durres city and to create a new connecting railway to Tirana Airport.

Currently, there are very few operational trains within Albania. There is a 2 x per week train between Durres and Elbasan. And a 1 x per week train between Lac and Shkoder. In the past, there used to be trains to Tirana, Vlore and Pogradec, but these railways are not in use at the moment. As they await investment and refurbishment.
