The bus station is located behind the Palace of Culture, next to central Skanderbeg Square. Buses depart between 6:00 AM and 24:00 PM. A bus ticket costs 400 Leke (3.50 euros) per person.

Tirana Bus Station to Airport

You can take a shuttle bus from the city centre of Tirana to Tirana Airport. The bus station in the city centre is located behind the Palace of Culture and next to central Skanderbeg Square.

To get to the bus station where the airport shuttle bus departs, you first need to get to Skanderbeg Square. Skanderbeg Square is the main square in the centre of the city, where the famous National History Museum is located along with other landmarks. 

When you stand on Skanderbeg Square, you need to walk into the path between the Et’hem Bey Mosque and the Palace of Culture. You can recognize the Palace of Culture because it is the home to the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The path leads through a little park and the bus station is right in front of you. 

There is a bus signage which shows “Tirana Airport Bus operated by Luna Travel” at the bus station. You can see the airport bus timetable and know where the bus will stop.

Bus timetable FROM Tirana airport TO Tirana’s city centre

The airport shuttle bus departs from Tirana airport every hour between 7:00 AM and 2:00 AM. So there is a bus departing from the airport at 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 13:00 PM, 14:00 PM, 15:00 PM, 16:00 PM, 17:00 PM, 18:00 PM, 19:00 PM, 20:00 PM, 21:00 PM, 22:00 PM, 23:00 PM, 24:00 PM, 01:00 AM and 02:00 AM. 

Buses from Tirana airport to Tirana operate every day of the week and all year round. A bus journey from Tirana airport to Tirana’s city centre takes 30 minutes. 

The airport shuttle bus departs from the parking lot at Tirana airport. After you get off the aeroplane, pass through security and luggage collection, you walk into the airport arrivals hall. Take the exit to your immediate left and walk straight ahead to the parking space. The airport shuttle bus is parked at the end of the parking lot.

The airport shuttle bus from Tirana’s city centre to Tirana airport departs every hour between 6:00 AM and 24:00 PM. So there is a bus departure from Tirana’s city centre at 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 13:00 PM, 14:00 PM, 15:00 PM, 16:00 PM, 17:00 PM, 18:00 PM, 19:00 PM, 20:00 PM, 21:00 PM, 22:00 PM, 23:00 PM and 24:00 PM. 

The airport shuttle buses operate every day of the week and all year round. A bus journey from Tirana’s city centre to Tirana airport takes 30 minutes.

Public transportation to Tirana airport

If you want to travel by public transportation to Tirana airport, your only option is an airport shuttle bus. Tirana airport is not connected to any railways, so it is not possible to travel to Tirana airport by train.

The airport shuttle bus from Durres city to Tirana airport costs 600 Leke (5.23 euros) per person. The bus departs from Durres’ bus station at 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 13:00 PM and 15:00 PM. How much is a taxi from Tirana airport to the city centre?

A taxi from Tirana airport to the city center costs between 11 euros – 20 euros. Below I have a quick overview of what the popular taxi companies in Tirana charge for a taxi from Tirana airport to the city centre of Tirana.

Tirana airport taxi

Tirana airport has a licensed taxi service called Tirana airport taxi service by Auto Holiday Albania. These airport taxis are always parked right in front of the airport terminal building. And they have the airport logo on both sides of the yellow taxi. 

Of course, the advantage of taking this airport taxi service is convenience, you simply grab the taxi right outside the terminal building. However, I have found that their pricing is usually relatively high. A taxi from Tirana airport to the city centre costs 20-25 euros. Whereas other taxi companies offer 11 euros for the same ride.

Is Uber available in Tirana? Is Uber working in Albania?

Uber is not available in Tirana, because Uber does not operate in Albania. Although there were some announcements online in the past, Uber has not (yet) come to Albania. So you will need to book a regular taxi service instead.

That being said, you can also simply use WhatsApp or Viber to contact a taxi driver. Most Albanian taxi companies use either WhatsApp or Viber or both. So this is a quick way to get in touch, ask for prices and book a taxi. 

Where is the main bus station in Tirana?

There are actually several main bus stations in Tirana. There is a bus station for city buses, a bus station for other cities in North and South Albania, a bus station for other cities in South-East Albania and a bus station for International buses.

If you want to take a city bus from Tirana’s city centre to another neighbourhood or area within Tirana city. Then you need to go to the city bus station around Skanderbeg Square. Main bus Station – Buses from Tirana to North and South Albania

If you want to take a bus from Tirana’s city centre to a city in the North of Albania or a city in the South of Albania. You need to go to the Regional Bus Terminal North and South Albania. The buses that depart from this bus terminal go to other cities, like Shkoder, Kruja, Durres, Berat, Vlore, Saranda, Gjirokaster and many other popular cities in Albania.

The Regional Bus Terminal North and South Albania is located outside the city centre of Tirana. So basically, you cannot walk to the bus terminal if you are staying in the city centre of Tirana. Therefore, you will need to take a short taxi ride to the bus terminal or a city bus. If you take a taxi, this is a metered taxi journey, not a set rate. 

Or you can take a city bus from the city centre of Tirana to the Regional Bus Terminal North and South Albania. The city bus departs from behind the National History Museum on the Rruga Ded Gjo Luli and you must take the bus in the direction of “Instituti”.

Main bus station – Bus from Tirana to South-East Albania

If you want to travel from Tirana to a city in the South-East of Albania, then you need to go to the Regional Bus Terminal for Southeastern Albania. The buses that depart from this bus terminal go to cities near the border with Macedonia, like Pogradec, Korca and Elbasan.

The Regional Bus Terminal for Southeastern Albania is located near the Air Albania Football Stadium and the Grand Park of Tirana in the city centre. 

Main bus station – International Buses to counties, like Greece, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia

If you want to take a bus from Tirana to another county in the Balkans or Europe, you will need to go to the International Bus Station. The International Bus Station is located behind the Asllan Rusi Sports Palace near the city centre of Tirana. You can walk from Tirana’s city centre to the International Bus Station. From the central Skanderbeg Square walk into Rruga Durresit. When you get to the Ringu Roundabout continue straight ahead for another 2 minutes. Until you see the Asllan Rusi Sports Palace on your left-hand side. The International Bus station is behind the Asllan Rusi Sports Palace. 

How to get from Tirana Airport to the regional bus station?

There is no bus from Tirana airport to the regional bus station. So the only way to get from Tirana airport to the regional bus station is by taking a taxi. A taxi from Tirana airport to the regional bus station will cost you anywhere between 11-20 euros.
