In this blog post, I will share the new bus timetable from the Saranda Bus Terminal. How to get to the new bus terminal and how to buy a bus ticket from Saranda to another city in Albania. So let’s dive in.

NEW Saranda Bus Terminal opened July 2026

As of July 2026, a NEW Saranda Bus Terminal has opened. If you are looking for a bus starting from Saranda, you may have gone to the city center.

In the past, buses from Saranda to other cities in Albania, were departing near Friendship Park and the archeological remains of the Synagogue – Basilica. There were bus agencies of Trans Dea and Trans Butrinti nearby. And buses from Saranda to other cities were departing from Rruga Flamurit / Flamurit Street.

However, as of July 2026, there is now a NEW Saranda Bus Terminal. The NEW Saranda Bus Terminal is located in Rruga Skënderbeu (English: Skanderbeg Street).

IMPORTANT: The location of NEW Saranda Bus Terminal is called “SKANDERBEG STREET” on Google Maps. Someone has added the bus terminal on Google Maps as “SKANDERBEG STREET”. It obviously should be called “Saranda Bus Terminal”. Which is why many tourists may not be able to find the Saranda Bus Terminal independently. Hopefully, this information will be corrected on Google Maps soon…

How to get to the NEW Saranda Bus Terminal?

You can get to the NEW Saranda Bus Terminal by taxi or by walking. A taxi from the city center of Saranda to the NEW Saranda Bus Terminal may cost you 10-15 EUR. Of course, bus drivers set their own prices, so you will need to agree with your taxi driver.

You could walk from the city center of Saranda to the NEW Saranda Bus Terminal in about 30 minutes. That being said, it is a 30 minute uphill walk. So in the summer months when it is very hot and sunny, this may not be a good option.

NEW Bus Timetable at the Saranda Bus Terminal

Saranda to Tirana bus timetable

There are 2 x bus routes from Saranda to Tirana: inland route and coastline road. There are buses that drive from Saranda via Tepelena to Tirana, which is the inland route. And there are buses that drive from Saranda via the coastline to Tirana.

Buses from Saranda to Tirana via Tepelene / inland route depart at 5:00 AM, 6:30 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM, 12:30 PM, 14:00 PM, 17:00 PM and 22:00 PM.
Buses from Sarana to Tirana via the coastline road depart at 5:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 13:30 PM and 18:00 PM.
Buses via Tepelene and the inland route are faster. It will take approximately 5 hours to get from Saranda to Tirana.
Buses via the coastline offer beautiful views, but the journey may take 6-7 hours.
On the Saranda Bus Timetable, you will see coastline buses mentioned as “Bregdeti”, meaning “coastline”.
Bus tickets from Saranda to Tirana costs around 15-17 EUR per person.

If you are looking for a bus from Saranda to Borsh Beach, Porto Palermo, Dhermi Beach or Jale Beach, you can take the bus that drives from Saranda to Tirana via the coastline. You can ask the bus driver to drop you off en route. This is common practice in Albania.

Saranda to Himare bus timetable

There are direct buses from Saranda to Himare from the NEW Saranda Bus Terminal. Buses depart from Saranda to Himare at 6:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Saranda to Permet bus timetable

There is a direct bus from Saranda to Permet at 7:30 AM. The bus departs from the NEW Saranda Bus Terminal.

Saranda to Elbasan bus timetable

There are direct buses from the NEW Saranda Bus Terminal to Elbasan departing at 11:35 AM and 13:30 PM.

How to book and pay for a bus ticket in Saranda?

In Albania, it is common practice to pay for your bus ticket in cash with the driver upon boarding the bus. I recommend you pay cash for all your bus tickets in person whilst travelling by bus through Albania.

Albania is a cash country. Cash is strongly preferred and expected. I recommend carrying a combination of Euros and a small amount of Albanian Lek. Euros are widely accepted in Albania and if you pay with euro notes, the bus driver may give you some change in Albanian Lek.

Many local bus drivers and intercity bus drivers do not have a booking website or online reservation system. Therefore, you often cannot book the bus online. The only way to get a seat would be going to the bus terminal early and getting on the bus first. Bus drivers serve customers First Come, First Serve.
