Is the Dajti cable car worth it?
The Dajti Ekspres Cable Car is definitely worth a visit. The cable car is relatively close to Tirana, only a 20-min taxi, car or bus journey from the city center. The 15-min cable car journey up Mount Dajti offers stunning panoramic views. And the Dajti Mountain Balcony is a lovely place to relax, eat, drink and have fun.
Dajti Cable car is worth visiting
- Stunning panoramic views over Tirana city, the rolling hills and the Adriatic Sea in the distance.
- The 15 min cable car journey is very calm, it goes slowly and it is very relaxing.
- You pass over little farms, lakes, pine trees, impressive cliffs, bunkers down below.
- After 15 min, the cable car drops you off at the Dajti Mountain Balcony, where there is a variety of entertainment. Including play grounds, restaurants, coffee house, mini golf, horseback riding, buggy riding, target shooting and much more!
Dajti cable car price & ticket
- The Dajti Cable Car entrance ticket costs 15 EUR / 1500 LEK per person for a return ticket.
- You must pay for your ticket in person by card or by cash at the ticket office on site.
- You cannot book your ticket online.
- Basically, the Dajti Ekspres does have a website with information. But their website does not have an online reservation system.

- The Dajti Ekspres cable car is open every day of the week, except Tuesday.
- So you can go on the cable car on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- The Dajti Ekspres cable car is open year-round.
- The opening times of Dajti Ekspres are 9:00 AM until 18:00 PM every day, except Tuesday when it is closed.
How to get to the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car?
- There is a city bus from the city center of Tirana to the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car.
- The bus stop in the city center is at the city bus station at the back of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet and Palace of Culture.
- If you are standing on the central Skanderbeg Square, you take the walking path in between the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet and the Et’hem Bej Mosque. You pass through a little park that leads to the city bus station. Also called the ‘Biblioteka bus stop’.
- You must take bus line 11 (light blue color) from the Biblioteka bus stop to Porcelan, which stops at Dajti Ekspres. Dajti Ekspres is also called Teleferiku by the Albanian people, so that is your destination: Dajti Ekspres/Teleferiku.
- Buses depart every 5-30 min between 5:30 AM and 24:00 PM. The bus journey takes 20-30 min depending on traffic.
- A bus ticket costs 40 LEK / 0.40 EUR per person. And you must pay cash for your bus ticket with the bus driver upon boarding the bus.

- The journey with the Dajti Ekspres Cable car takes 15 min from the lower station to the mountain balcony.
- You will enjoy the journey two times, as you will buy a return ticket.

- So if you are on your way to the Dajti Ekspres, you may see signage indicating ‘Teleferiku’ which is the same thing.

INSIDER TIP: Combine Dajti Ekspres Cable Car with Bunk’Art 1 Museum
- If you are going to the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car, you can combine it with a visit to the Bunk’Art 1 Bunker Museum.
- The bunker museum is only a 5 minute walk from the entrance of the Dajti Ekspres, so it makes sense to combine the two attractions together, if you are interested in both.
- Bunk’Art 1 is a large communist bunker turned into a museum about the communist period in Albania.
INSIDER TIP: Bring warm clothing or a jacket
- At the Dajti Mountain Balcony it is usually colder than in the city center of Tirana, so bring a sweater, long sleeve shirt or jacket so that you are prepared for the cooler temperature upon arrival.

How much is the Dajti Cable Car?
As of 2025, the Dajti Cable Car costs 1500 LEK (15 EUR) per person for a return ticket. That makes the Dajti Cable one of the most expensive sightseeing locations in Albania.
You cannot book your Dajti Cable Car ticket online. So you must pay by cash or card in person at the ticket office on site. Dajti Ekspress has a website with information. But their website does not have an online reservation system. This is actually very common in Albania. Many attractions can only be paid in person at the ticket office on site.
Dajti Cable Car prices have been steadily increasing over the past few years, so I would expect prices to go up in the upcoming years as well.

That being said, my husband Jack and I are private tour guides in Albania. And our guests always enjoy the Dajti Cable Car, so it is well worth it.
Since the Dajti Express Cable Car is one of the more expensive sightseeing spots, I recommend you wait for a sunny and clear day. You will have the best experience if the sky is clear and you can see beautiful views in the far distance. So foggy or cloudy days can take away from the experience and make it less impressive.

The cable car starts at the Dajti Ekspres Lower Station. At the lower station, you buy a ticket at the ticket office for 15 EUR/1500 LEK. Then you walk upstairs to the boarding station.
You usually wait for a short while in the queue at the boarding station. Employees help you board the moving cable car. And usually they only place one family per cable car. So most likely you are not sharing with strangers.
The cable car journey lasts 15 minutes and it is absolutely beautiful! From the cable car, you look down on farm houses, lakes, nature, pine trees and bunkers. As the cable car climbs higher you pass impressive cliffs and wild forest. And when you get even higher, you see a panoramic view of Tirana city, the rolling hills and the Adriatic Sea in the distance.
After completing the 15 minute journey, you are dropped off at the Dajti Mountain Balcony, which is 1613 meters of altitude. At the Dajti Mountain Balcony, you will find a variety of entertainment. You can go to a restaurant or coffee houses or you can play mini golf, go target shooting, buggy riding, horseback riding, enjoy the playground with your family and much more!

What is the best time to visit Dajti Ekspres?
The Dajti Ekspres is great to visit in both summer and winter. That being said, you will have the best experience on a clear and sunny day. Bear in mind that the cable car is always closed on Tuesday.
In summer time, the Dajti Ekspres is great because there is a variety of outdoor entertainment at the Dajti Mountain Balcony. You can go horseback riding, go target shooting, ride a buggy, go to a playground, play minigolf or sit on a terrace and take in the views.
In winter time, sometimes there is snow at the Dajti Mountain Balcony, even if Tirana is snowfree. So it is a great winter experience. The Dajti Express can also be beautiful in the winter as you see the city light up on a dark winter evening. Even if it is colder, you can go inside the Restaurant Balkoni Dajti or the Rotating Bar on top of the Dajti Hotel to stay warm, have food or drinks and enjoy the views in the meantime.
You will have the best experience if you go on a clear and sunny day. Because you will be able to see breathtaking views over Tirana city, the nature park and the Adriatic Sea in the distance.
How to get from Tirana’s city centre to the Dajti Cable Car?
You can take a bus or taxi from Tirana’s city center to the Dajti Cable Car. A taxi might cost you around 10-15 EUR one way. Below, I will describe how you can take a city bus from the city center of Tirana to the Dajti Cable Car.
Tirana’s city centre to Dajti Cable car by bus
- Go to the ‘Biblioteka’ bus stop in the city center at the back of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The bus stop is close to the central Skanderbeg Square.
- To get to Dajti Ekspres Cable Car take bus line 11 to Porcelan and get off at ‘Dajti Ekspres/Teleferiku’.
- Bus line 11 to the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car departs every 5-30 minutes between 5:30 AM and 24:00 PM. Bus timetable picture below.
- A bus ticket costs 40 LEK / 0.40 EUR per person. I recommend you bring some local Albanian LEK in cash.

Tirana’s city center to Dajti Cable Car by car
- There is a parking area at the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car.
- The parking area is free of charge.
- There is signage along the road indicating ‘Dajti Ekspres Cable Car’, ‘Teleferiku’ and ‘Bunkart 1’, which is located next to the cable car.
To get from the city center of Tirana to the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car, you start from the central Skanderbeg Square. On Skanderbeg Square, located the Palace of Culture / National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The bus station is at the back of this building. Take the path between the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet and the small Et’hem Bey Mosque. The path through a small park will bring you to the city bus station called ‘Biblioteka bus stop’.

To get to the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car, you must take bus line 11 to Porcelan. I have added a bus map for Tirana city above, and bus line 11 has a light blue color. You are getting on the bus at ‘Biblioteka’ which is the bus station near Skanderbeg Square. You must get off the bus at ‘Dajti Ekspres/Teleferiku. ‘Teleferiku’ is the Albanian language for ‘cable way’, so that is just a different word for the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car.
Bus line 11 to the Dajti Ekspres Cable Car departs every 5-30 minutes between 5:30 AM and 24:00 PM. I have added a picture of the bus timetable below.
A bus ticket costs 40 LEK / 0.40 EUR per person. And you must pay cash for your bus ticket with the bus driver upon boarding the bus. You cannot book the city bus online. So I highly recommend you exchange a small amount of foreign currency for Albanian Lek. So that you can pay for your bus ticket in the local currency upon boarding the bus.
When you get off the bus at the ‘Dajti Ekspres/Teleferiku’ bus stop, you must walk for about 5 minutes to the Dajti Ekspres Lower station. You can follow signage along the road or ask the locals for directions. From the city center of Tirana, you can take a taxi costing approximately 10-15 EUR. Or you can take bus line 11 to Porcelan from the city bus station (behind the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet) to get to the Dajti Ekspress Lower Station.

Does the Mount Dajti Cable car shake?
In my personal experience, the Mount Dajti Cable Car does not shake. The cable car goes up slowly and steadily. It is not a fast journey, instead it is slow and steady. The cable car goes up the mountain very calmly and it feels very relaxing.
Is the Mount Dajti Cable Car fast?
The Mount Dajti Cable Car goes up slowly and steadily. The speed is not very fast. I personally feel the pace of the Cable Car is calming and relaxing.
That being said, the Dajti Cable Car is of course much faster than driving up the mountain by car. The cable car journey to the Dajti Mountain Balcony only takes 15 minutes. Whereas it takes 1 hour to drive to the Mountain Balcony by car.
If you do consider driving to the Mount Dajti Balcony by car, I will say that the driving route is very pretty. It leads through rolling hills, offers beautiful views and leads through a wild forest.
