How to get from Tirana to Himare by bus?
You can get from Tirana to Himare by bus 2 x times per day. The first bus from Tirana to Himare departs at 5:30 AM and arrives in Himare at 9:28 AM. The second bus from Tirana to Himare departs at 13:00 PM and arrives at 16:58 PM in Himare.

The official name of the Regional Bus Terminal is:

It is important to note that the Regional Bus Terminal in Tirana is not in the city centre of Tirana. From the city centre of Tirana, it will take you approximately 15-20 minutes by car to get to the Regional Bus Terminal. You can get from Tirana’s city centre to the Regional Bus Station by taxi or by city bus.
The city bus from Tirana’s city centre to the Regional Bus Terminal departs close to Skanderbeg Square. Skanderbeg Square is the central square in the city centre of Tirana. If you are standing on Skanderbeg Square, you need to walk to the back of the National History Museum, to the Dede Gjo Luli Street (In Albanian: Rruga Dede Gjo Luli).
From the bus station on Dede Gjo Luli Street (In Albanian: Rruga Dede Gjo Luli), you must take the bus to Instituti Bujqesor. The bus to Instituti Bujqesor makes a stop at the Regional Bus Terminal North and South Albania. A bus ticket will cost you less than 1 euro, so take some Albanian Leke coins with you.
A taxi ride from the city centre of Tirana to the Regional Bus Terminal costs around 5 euros. By taxi, it will take you approximately 20 minutes to get to the Regional Bus Terminal. But I do recommend that you leave on time! Because traffic in the city centre of Tirana can be heavy and it may slow you down significantly.
Where is the bus station in Himare?
The bus from Tirana to Himare stops at the Himare Bus Station on the SH8 Motorway in Himare.

A rental car in Albania costs at least 20 – 25 euros per day. And for petrol from Tirana to Himare, I would recommend you calculate around 60 euros.

It is important to note that you must reach out to several car rental companies in Tirana before your holiday if you want to get a good deal. Because I have spoken to travellers, who paid 50-70 euros per day for their car rental.
The route from Tirana to Himare is very straightforward. From the central Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, you take the highway to Durres. Then from Durres, you drive southward via Fier to Vlore. Then in the coastal city of Vlore, you get on the coastal road which leads from Vlore to Saranda. Himare is located alongside the coastal highway.
It is important that I note that driving in Albania as a foreigner can be challenging and daunting. The Albanian drivers do have a chaotic and aggressive driving style. Unfortunately, quite a large number of Albanian drivers do not follow the rules of the road. Of course, you are the only one who can determine whether you have the confidence to drive in Albania.
How do I get from Tirana to the Albanian Riviera?
You can get from Tirana to the Albanian Riviera by taking a bus, taxi or rental car to Vlore, Himare or Saranda.
Basically, the Albanian Riviera is a 120 kilometre long stretch of coastline in the South of Albania. The Albanian Riviera starts at the coastal city Vlore. From Vlore, there is a motorway alongside the Albanian Riviera which leads all the way to Saranda city and the Greek Border.
All the most beautiful beaches in Albania are located alongside the coastal road between Vlore and Saranda and the Greek Border.
If you are travelling by bus, you can take a bus from:
1. Tirana to Vlore
2. Tirana to Himare (described above)
3. Tirana to Saranda
How do I get from Tirana to Vlore?
You can get from Tirana to Vlore by bus, by taxi or by rental car. There is no train connection between Tirana and Vlore.

The Regional Bus Terminal is about 15-20 minutes by car from the city centre of Tirana. So you must take either a city bus or a taxi to get to the Regional Bus Terminal. I did describe getting from the city centre to the Regional Bus Terminal in detail above.
A bus ticket from Tirana to Vlore costs 500 Leke (5.10 euros) for a one-way trip for 1 person. By bus, it will take you 3 hours to get from Tirana to Vlore.

If you plan on travelling from Tirana to the Albanian Riviera taking the bus to Vlore is a very good option. Because there are many bus departures per day, you only need to be on the bus for 3 hours. And from Vlore, you can easily travel to other beaches in the Albanian Riviera. Moreover, there are only 2 x busses per day from Tirana to Himare, so catching a bus from Tirana to Vlore is much easier due to the 28 busses per day.
A taxi from Tirana to Vlore will cost you between 74 euros – 107 euros.

How do I get from Tirana airport to Vlore?
You can get from Tirana airport to Vlore with the airport shuttle bus, an airport taxi or a rental car.
There is a direct shuttle bus from Tirana International Airport to Vlore. The shuttle bus from the airport to Vlore is operated by Hermes Airport. A bus ticket costs 1000 Leke (8.20 euros) for a one-way trip. The shuttle bus from the airport to Vlore departs at 10:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 13:30 PM, 14:30 PM, 16:30 PM and 22:00 PM. It will take approximately 2.5 – 3 hours to get from Tirana Airport to Vlore by bus.
IMPORTANT! From Tirana International Airport there are direct shuttle busses to:
1) Tirana
2) Durres
3) Fier (North Albania)
4) Vlore
You can also take one of the licenced airport taxis from Tirana airport to Vlore. The official airport taxi service charges 86 euros for a taxi from the airport to Vlore.
The officially licenced taxis have the airport logo on the side and are located right in front of the Arrivals Hall at the airport.
How do I get from Tirana to Saranda?
You can get from Tirana to Saranda by bus, by taxi or by rental car. There are no trains between Tirana and Saranda. I will describe the bus journey and the taxi costs from Tirana to Saranda in more detail below.
How do I get from Tirana to Saranda by bus?
You can get from Tirana to Saranda by bus in approximately 5 hours. The bus from Tirana to Saranda departs from the Regional Bus Terminal. A bus ticket from Tirana to Saranda costs 12 euros for a one-way trip.
The bus from Tirana to Saranda departs from the Regional Bus Terminal North and South Albania, which is approximately 15-20 minutes from the city centre of Tirana. Therefore, you must take a taxi or city bus from the city centre to the Regional Bus Terminal. I have described the details about the Regional Bus Terminal above in this blog post.
The bus from Tirana to Saranda departs 7 x times per day. There is a bus from Tirana to Saranda at 6:15 AM, 7:30 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:45 AM, 12:30 PM, 16:00 PM and 22:00 PM. If you want to take a bus from Tirana Airport to Saranda, there is no direct bus connection. So you have 2 x options:
1) Take a taxi from the airport to the Regional Bus Terminal (30 min) and then take the bus from the Regional Bus Terminal to Saranda
2) Take the direct shuttle bus from Tirana Airport to Vlore and then switch to a bus from Vlore to Saranda (see information above).
