It is important to note that the Regional Bus Terminal in Tirana is not in the city centre of Tirana. From the city centre of Tirana, it will take you approximately 15-20 minutes by car to get to the Regional Bus Terminal. You can get from Tirana’s city centre to the Regional Bus Station by taxi or by city bus.

The city bus from Tirana’s city centre to the Regional Bus Terminal departs close to Skanderbeg Square. Skanderbeg Square is the central square in the city centre of Tirana. If you are standing on Skanderbeg Square, you need to walk to the back of the National History Museum, to the Dede Gjo Luli Street (In Albanian: Rruga Dede Gjo Luli).

From the bus station on Dede Gjo Luli Street (In Albanian: Rruga Dede Gjo Luli), you must take the bus to Instituti Bujqesor. The bus to Instituti Bujqesor makes a stop at the Regional Bus Terminal North and South Albania. A bus ticket will cost you less than 1 euro, so take some Albanian Leke coins with you.

The route from Tirana to Dhermi is very straightforward. From the central Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, you take the highway to Durres. Then from Durres, you drive southward via Fier to Vlore. Then in the coastal city of Vlore, you get on the coastal road which leads from Vlore to Saranda. Dhermi is located alongside the coastal highway.

It is important that I note that driving in Albania as a foreigner can be challenging and daunting. The Albanian drivers do have a chaotic and aggressive driving style. Unfortunately, quite a large number of Albanian drivers do not follow the rules of the road. Of course, you are the only one who can determine whether you have the confidence to drive in Albania.

Is there a train from Tirana to Dhermi?

There is no train from Tirana to Dhermi.

Unfortunately, the train and rail network in Albania is very limited. The rail network was constructed during the communist period, which ended in 1992. And the trains and rail network have not been updated since then. As a result, there are only a handful of operational trains in Albania, that operate at a very slow speed.

Therefore, I cannot recommend a train in Albania as an effective manner of getting from A to B. However, if you do want to take an old communist train for the experience and adventure. You could try and take the train from the outskirts of Tirana to Durres.

What is the distance from Tirana to Dhermi?

The distance from Tirana to Dhermi is 222 KM. The driving route from Tirana to Dhermi is quite straightforward.

From Tirana’s central Skanderbeg Square, you must take the highway in the direction of Durres. Then when you arrive at the coastal city of Durres, you must take the highway to the South in the direction of Fier and Vlore. Then in Vlore, you can take the coastal road from Vlore to Saranda, which leads by Dhermi.

It takes 3.5 hours to get from Tirana to Dhermi. It does not matter if you travel by taxi, by bus or by rental car, because all three will drive the exact same route. In the summer months, it may take you 4 hours to get to Dhermi, due to heavier traffic along the coastline.

There are daily ferry boats from the Greek Corfu island to Saranda in Albania. The ferry boat journey from the Port of Corfu to the Port of Saranda takes 35 minutes.

The ferries from Corfu to Saranda (and back) are operated by Ionian Seaways and Finikas Lines. A ferry ticket from Corfu to Saranda costs 19 euros in the low season or 23.80 euros in the high season for a one-way journey.

In the winter season, both Ionian Seaways and Finikas Lines operate 1 x ferry boat per day. However, in the summer season, they each offer 3-4 daily ferry boat departures.
