If you are planning to travel to Corfu, you might be wondering if you can go on a day trip to Albania from Corfu? In this blog, I will describe how to go on a day trip from Corfu to Albania by ferry.

Can you do a day trip to Albania from Corfu? You can do a day trip to Albania from Corfu in the spring, summer and autumn seasons. You can take the ferry boat from Corfu to Saranda in Albania. You can book tickets with Finikas Lines or Ionian Seaways. A return ticket costs between 38-48 euros.

In this blog post, I will discuss how you can book a day trip to Albania from Corfu. I will discuss where to book your ticket, timetables, ticket prices, arrival and departure ports, how long the journey takes, and the time difference between Corfu and Albania.

Day trip to Albania from Corfu

You can go on a day trip to Albania from Corfu. You can take a 30-minute ferry boat ride that starts at Corfu island and stops in Saranda in Albania.

Where can you book a day trip to Albania from Corfu?

There are two ferry companies that operate daily ferries between Corfu and Saranda:

1) Finikas Lines
2) Ionian Seaways

Day trip to Albania from Corfu with Finikas Lines

With Finikas Lines, a day trip to Albania from Corfu is possible between the 6th of April 2022 and the 31st of October 2022.

The first ferry boat from Corfu to Saranda departs at 9:00 AM. And the last ferry boat from Saranda to Corfu departs at 16:00 PM, 16:30 PM or 18:30 PM, depending on which month you travel. This will allow you to spend 7 hours in Albania during your day trip.

Between the 1st of July 2022 and the 21st of September, you can go for a longer day trip. Because the last ferry boat from Saranda to Corfu departs at 18:30 PM. Therefore, you will be able to spend 9.5 hours in Albania before returning to Corfu.

In the winter months, between November and March, it is not possible to book a day trip to Albania from Corfu with Finikas Lines. Because the ferry boat only departs 1 x time per day. The boat departs Corfu at 9:00 AM and it immediately returns from Saranda at 10:30 AM. So in the winter months, you must stay overnight in Saranda, so that you have some time to explore the sightseeing spots in Albania.

Day trip to Albania from Corfu with Ionian Seaways

With Ionian Seaways, a day trip to Albania from Corfu is possible between the 3rd of May 2022 and the 20th of October 2022.

The first ferry from Corfu to Albania departs at 8:45 AM. And the last ferry boat from Saranda to Corfu departs at 16:00 PM or 18:30 PM, depending on which month you are travelling. This will allow you to spend between 7-9 hours in Albania during your day trip.

In the winter months, between November and April, Ionian Seaways only offers 1 ferry boat departure per day in the early morning. Since the ferry boat departs Corfu at 8:40 AM and it travels back from Saranda at 12:30 PM, this only allows for a very short day trip.

Ionian Seaways charges 47.60 euros for a return ticket from Corfu to Saranda and back.

IMPORTANT: Time difference between Corfu and Albania

There is a 1 hour time difference between the Greek Corfu island and Albania.

When you travel from Corfu to Albania, you go 1 hour back in time. Basically, you depart Corfu at 9:00 AM, you travel by ferry for 30 minutes, and you arrive at 8:30 AM in Albania.

When you travel from Albania to Corfu, you go 1 hour forward in time. Basically, you depart Saranda at 16:00 PM, you travel by ferry for 30 minutes, and you arrive at 17:30 PM in Corfu.

IMPORTANT: There are speed boats and slower car ferries in operation between Corfu and Albania

Both Finikas Lines and Ionian Seaways operate speed boats and slower car ferries between Corfu and Albania.

By Speedboat, it takes only 30 minutes to travel from Corfu to Albania or the other way around. The Speed boats are called Flying Dolphins or Hydrofoil.

By car ferry, it takes 65 minutes to travel from Corfu to Albania or the other direction. The slower boats are called “ferry boats”, “passenger ships” or “vehicle boats”.

Can I visit Albania from Corfu?

You can visit Albania from Corfu. You can take the ferry boat from Corfu to Albania, which takes 30 minutes. The ferry departs from the Port of Corfu and you will arrive at the Port of Saranda.

In the summer season, it is possible to make a 7-9 hour day trip from Corfu to Albania. In the winter months, there is only 1 ferry boat departure per day, and you must stay overnight in Saranda, before taking the ferry back to Corfu the next day.

The two companies that operate a ferry boat between Corfu and Albania are Finikas Lines and Ionian Seaways. A return ticket from Corfu to Albania costs 38 euros with Finikas Lines. And a return ticket from Corfu to Albania costs 47.60 euros with Ionian Seaways.

How long is the ferry from Corfu to Saranda?

The ferry from Corfu to Saranda takes 30 minutes by speedboat or 65 minutes by car ferry.

You can go on a day trip to Corfu from Saranda.

With Finikas Lines, it is possible to go on a day trip to Corfu from Saranda between the 6th of April and the 31st of October. The ferry boat departs from Saranda at 6:00 AM, 8:45 AM or 10:30 depending on which month you are travelling. And you can travel back from Corfu to Saranda at 16:30 PM or 19:00 PM.

The ferry boat departs Saranda at 6:00 AM, 8:45 AM or 10:15 depending on which month you are travelling. And you can travel back from Corfu to Saranda at 17:15 PM or 19:00 PM.

Ionian Seaways charges 47.60 euros for a return ticket to Corfu from Saranda and back.
